A group of American students in Law and Business from St. John’s University (NY), Peter J. Tobin Business College, visited and made an experience exchange at Farmaceutica REMEDIA S.A., retail drugs distributor, as part of „Transactions in emerging markets” course.

Noutati RemediaThe visit of the American team of students lasted for one week between 6 and 13 March 2011. The students, accompanied by two of their teachers, Christopher J. Borgen, Associate Dean for International Studies and Mark Mayer, Deputy Law teacher in St. John Law University and President of the Romanian-American Chamber of Commerce, started their visit with a tour of company facilities. Valentin Tarus, President of the Board and founder of Farmaceutica REMEDIA S.A., made a presentation of the general and historical context of the Romanian business environement and his pre- and post- revolutionary evolution.

Noutati RemediaRobert Peloiu, General Manager of Farmaceutica REMEDIA S.A., presented the financial details of the company activity and emphasized the double of the turnover during the last 5 years and the business increase of REMEDIA chain of pharmacies to over 40% from the total sales of drugs. Zoe Chirita, Member of the Board, presented the current stage of development and the present challenges of the local pharmaceutical market, the guests being interested in showing the development perspectives of the market and its functioning mechanisms. Corneliu Poll, Marketing Manager, presented the medical promotion activity and its effectiveness necesity due to the limited time the doctors can spend with the medical representatives. Daria Budurca, student in Law at the Bucharest University, member of ELSA Law Students Association, presented the specific activities of the association, as an exchange of experience and ideas useful for both parties.
